Over-Empowerment in Games

I've noticed recently that a lot of big, triple A game franchises are focusing more on the "good guy" faction being this power house and the enemy being smaller and insurgent like. You can see this in the newer CoD and Halo games mostly.

I think what this is is reflecting the current state of first-world militaries and the war on terror. Before hand, big games emulated WWII, where the world united and took every oppourtunity to defeat a common enemy that very well could have conquered the world.

Now, we're the Third Reich.
