Fan Question: Who is Cartman’s father?

Answer: Eric Cartman’s father remained a mystery throughout season one until the episodeCartman’s Mom Is a Dirty Slut”. To everyone’s surprise, the episode ended in a cliffhanger which would carry over to the season 2 premiere.

Instead, season 2 started off with the April Fool’s joke of “Terrence and Phillip in Not Without My Anus”.

From the writers: Originally there was to be no reveal and that would be the joke “…we thought no one was going to care who this little cartoon character’s dad is…we thought people would think it was so funny which was our final realization that…we’re wrong about what people like and what people don’t.” Listen to the creator commentary here.

In the next episode of season 2, “Cartman’s Mom Is Still a Dirty Slut”, we finally found out who Cartman’s father was… Liane Cartman!

Yes, Liane Cartman was explained to be a hermaphrodite with two separate sets of genitals. In a shocking twist it turned out that Liane was NOT Eric’s mother but instead his father. So who is Eric’s mother?

It took over a decade before the Cartman’s father storyline was revisited in the episodes “200” and “201”. In this two-parter, it was finally revealed that Cartman’s real father was Jack Tenorman. Unfortunately, Cartman cut up and fed to his father to half-brother, Scott Tenorman in “Scott Tenorman Must Die”. Not only did he plot to have his father murdered, his arch nemesis turned out to be his half brother…. Oh, and Cartman also found out he was half Ginger. Son of a bitch!
